About

Hello.

My name is Akiva.

I was born and raised in New York City, and currently reside in Boulder, CO. I initially moved here to attend Naropa University, where I completed my B.A. degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with concentrations in Writing & Literature and Religious Studies. If you’re interested, check out my BA thesis, entitled Writing the Body: Kafka, Textuality, and Contemporary Theories of Embodiment, in which I tried to explore the implications of conceptualizing “the body” as a textual production.

I now work as a barista at Vic’s Espresso & News, a favorite coffee spot for lots of people in Boulder. If you live around here, stop by sometime.

I love martial arts, and practice goju-ryu karate and Matayoshi kobudo (traditional Okinawan weapons) at Boulder Kodokan. I love the Boulder Kodokan crew, and can’t imagine a better group of people to practice traditional Okinawan martial arts with. If you live in Boulder and are interested in or already practice kobudo or karate, you might want to check us out.

I really, really, really love music, and DJ under the alias <megatech> (click to visit my Soundcloud page and check out downloadable mixes). Recently I invested in some studio equipment and slowly but surely am beginning to delve into the realms of audio production. Big things to come in the future, I promise…

I also enjoy single malt scotch. If you are in or around the Denver area, you should consider checking out Pint’s Pub. They claim to be “purveyor of the largest selection of single malt whiskey this side of Edinburgh, Scotland.” Check out their selection here (PDF format).

And most of all I am simply another person with a blog, parts of which hopefully you will find somewhat enjoyable. And if you do, why not leave a comment or get in touch (or at least send me a link to your site or blog). I write this blog to express myself but also to connect with other people.

So who are you?
